Gertrude Peabody (AKA) Granny Goodbook
Gertrude Peabody was born in 1902, in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In her younger years, Gertrude became a professional break dancer, and in 1922, she moved on to become a stand up comedian at the Harlem Cotton Club in Chicago, Illinois. In 1935, Gertrude was drafted in the United State Army and served as a missal inspector in World War II. She received an honorable discharged and also a Purple Heart for saving the lives of 3 wounded soldiers.

Gertrude returned to Louisiana and moved to the big city of New Orleans. It was there that she met and fell in love with a Mr. Fart Goodbook. They married in 1940, and started there family which consisted of three sons and three daughters. Her children were raised with love, but discipline because momma didn’t play that mess. With years passing by and the children becoming adults with families of their own, It wasn’t long before Ma and Papa Goodbook where grandparents. The grand kids loved them and soon called Gertrude “Granny.”
Life was great up until granny had to bury the love of her life. Mr. Goodbook took ill and died in the summer of 1970. The only thing that held granny together was her strong and faithful services to the full Gospel Church of God. Granny is an energetic old woman and because of her walk with Christ, it was suggest by her congregation that she leave New Orleans and go to California to audition for a movie role in Mel Gibson’s, “One Night with the King.” Needless to say, she didn’t land the part, but Granny didn’t let that stop her faith in God. She found and attends a large Church Rancho Cucamonga, California. To her surprise, this church has drama team under the direction of Fountain Life Productions. It is here that Gertrude truly embraced the name Granny which was first, inspired by her grandchildren and now all the kids of the Children ministries call her Granny.
Gertrude Goodbook is a hip old broad that keeps her hair looking fabulous and is quoted as saying “If a man thinks it, so is he. Either way, Granny sees her self as beautiful. She works a part-time job answering phones and emails, and she loves to share bible stories in a comical way. She was even offered a 30 minute TV spot.
This Granny knows a little something; after all, she’s been around the block a few times. She has a weird way of telling bible stories with a semi up to date twist. She's old but fresh, and has wonderful following from ages 7 on up and gets her point across. Granny believes that a believer’s laughter is good medicine for the soul and know matter what age you are we all need Jesus because Hell is HOT, "OK Babe!!"
Granny Goodbook shows the world that you might not understand everything, and you may not be perfect at quoting scriptures, but granny feels it's important to keep on studying as the Word of God states,
“Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needed not to be ashamed rightly dividing the word of truth.”
2 Timothy 2:15.
"You may stumble; you may fall, you may stutter like Moses, Repent and Let the Lord use you.” OK!
Granny Goodbook stands to be corrected and doesn't claim to be perfect, but she aims to have an obedient heart toward our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and that is her perfect "OK." For the record, granny is not used to modern technology, But her grandson Junior has taught her how to delete emails that are negative. Granny Goodbook invites you all to tune in to her show. She has future plans to work with her somewhat of a geek grandson Junior, however, family is of extreme importance to granny. Stay tuned this 2016 year as Granny’s life becomes an adventure with her growing stronger by the Grace of God.
